Antiquities - an English Medieval silver armorial seal, the matrix cast in relief with the 'bird and bastard' crest of a member of Stanley family, subsequent Earls of Derby, within a dentil border, circular suspension loop above a pierced trefoil, hexagonal base, 2.5cm high, the matrix 1.3cm diam, 14th century Provenance: Excavated in the Newark area, Nottinghamshire, 2009; submitted to the British Museum through the Treasure Act 1996, reference no. 2009 T670, accompanied by two letters from the museum's treasure registrars and a synopsis from the then curator of the Medieval Collections, (3); retained by the finder and sold to the now deceased husband of the present vendor.
