BARBEDIENNE. Fondeur. Paris." within the cast beneath jaguar's tail, stamped "22205" inside the base. Bronze with green-brown patina, 7 x 7 3/4 x 16 in. (17.8 x 15.5 x 39.5 cm). Condition: Dust and dirt to interstices. N.B. Pivar notes in his catalogue raisonné that Barye presented this bronze at the Salon of 1850.
