comprising: (1) Account. “To Goods” supplied by Henry Overton to “Mr Benedict Arnold at Norwich Connecticutt” £93:13:1, manuscript account, 158 x 200mm., 14th October 1762 & 28th February 1763. (2) Agreement between London creditors of Benedict Arnold... Thomas Corbyn... Promise and Agree to divide and Distribute all such money... from... Bernard Lintot... Demands on the said Benedict Arnold... £2034.0.6., D.s. “Henry Overton” and others, manuscript, 1p., folio, 18th July 1766; and another letter from several creditors of Arnold (3) Bernard Lintot. 14 A.Ls.s. Messrs. Corby and Brown, (2 extensively torn and repaired with large loss) concerning Arnold’s debts, 19pp., 8 with address panels, New York & elsewhere, 29th October 1766 - 18th January 1768, concerning Arnold’s creditors (4) Autograph Letter in third person to “Mr Brown” and 1 Autograph Letter signed to Thomas Corbyn, 4to & folio, Dover Street, [London], 16th May & 20th December 1782, “The Principle part of GA [General Arnold’s] property is in America, and out of his Reach, and perhaps will ever be so - Neither the Duty he owes his Family or himself, will under his present Circumstances, permit him to follow Mr Brown’s Advice, however he may be inclined to do it; - and if at a future Day he should have it in his power to pay a sum of money, which both his Creditors and himself have been deprived of, by the Ill advised Conduct of their Agents...” and his recollection of an agreement for a length of time to pay his debts, “However fair and unblemished the Character of your Agent may appear to you Sir, I have the most undoubted proofs of the truths of my assertions in my letter to Jonathan Brown several Gentlemen of the strictest honor and most unblemished Character, were witnesses to his agreement with me (by which a time was allowed for the payment of your Debts) and of his departing from that agreement and Seizing my Person and effects...”, (5) 10 manuscript accounts and legal papers relating to the recovery of Arnold’s debts ( 6 extensively torn and repaired with large loss ), some tears with loss (some extensively), folds, browned, many edges chipped and creased, preserved in a modern portfolio ; and 6 manuscript fragments of ?3 letters one signed “ct Arnold” etc., v.s., v.d.
