Interesting document on J.B.L. Maes-Canini (1794-1856), Belgian painter active in Rome (San Giuliano dei Fiamminghi). Contents: accounts, expenses, personal documents, lists of famous Ghent citizens who died in the period 1834-1837, lists of public works undertaken in Ghent 1834-1837. Occasionally with personal commentaries, i.a. on the sale in 1834 of coins and medals collected by Jacobus de Naeyere. We join : Two passports (Brussels, 28/8/1839 & 29/11/1848) from the Belgian Government for the Ghent painter Jan Bernard (Jean) Devriendt (1809-1868), permitting him to travel in France and Germany. Folds. In good condition. Large documents on official paper, c. 46 x 31 cm, with official stamps and signatures.
