He also served as President of the Royal Academy. Hope and Francis were brothers, the sons of Francis Grant Laird of Kilgraston, near Bridge of Earn, Perthshire. Provenance: A label verso stating that this painting was "left to Hope Brooke, Boddlington House, Byfield"
