World localities A fascinating and rather comprehensive collection of natural opals, formed between 1950 and 1980 by a noted mid-West opal collector. Consisting of a variety of cabochons from Australia, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico as well as micro-mosaic intarsia samples of opal, possibly fabricated in Idar-Oberstein. Included are examples of white opal, gray opal, black opal, crystal opal, matrix opal, chocolate opal, jelly opal, fire opal, four opal doublets, four opal intarsias, and a number of small natural cabochons that have black paint on the underside to enhance their appearance (as was the custom during the 1960s).
