Rare 3rd edition (1st publ. in Leipzig, of this early standard work on the geography of Classical Antiquity by the German classical scholar Cellarius (1638-1707). Although he was particularly credited with popularising the Ancient-Medieval-Modern division of history which was previously used by Leonardo Bruni and Flavio Biondo, this treatise on ancient geography made him the "Begründer des universitären Geographieunterrichts", the founder of geography as an academical discipline.
