Title leaf, 55 engraved maps, of which several are folding and mostly double page (not complete, probably lacking 25 maps, about 20 loose, a few minor tears, some foxing, a few partly dampstained, some folds). Engraved by J. N. Bellin and others. Size varies, many smaller, but about 210x295, 380x480, 550x570 mms. Contemporary full calf, partly worn, richly ornamented spine, damages at top and tail. The atlas was published together with La Harpe's "Histoire générale des voyages". The number of maps differ, some libraries mention 74, some 78. There are maps of Africa, India, Java and Borneo, Siberia, Kamtchatka, Japan, China (some foxing), Iceland, South America, several parts of America (east coast), Australia (Nouvelle Hollande), Carte des découvertes... dans la mer Pacifique..., Essay d'une carte réduite, contenant les parties connuees du globe terrestre (partly dampstained to upper part), Carte de l'hemisphere austral (French edition of Cook's chart of the southern hemisphere, engraved by Benard, partly foxed, some wear to folding).
