HOOKER, JOSEPH DALTON. Autograph letter signed (ALS) to Sir Joseph Fayrer. Dated London, Royal Gardens Kew, June 19th 1884. 1 page in 8vo (181x115 mm). With the Royal Gardens Kew stamp. Partly soiled, small tears, folded. Dalton writes about Mr Horne, suffering from Malaria fever, who he is sending to Mauritius. Joseph Dalton Hooker (1817-1911), considered one of the most important botanist's in Great Britain in the 19th century, a close friend of Darwin and later director of the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew. Sir Joseph Fayrer, 1st Baronet (1824-1907), English physician noted for his writings on medicine in India, surgeon-general. John Horne (1835-1905, Director of the Botanic Gardens of Pamplemousses, Mauritius.
