Gurney had been a Colonel in Washington’s Army during the Revolutionary War and later saw military service again in suppressing the Whiskey Rebellion in Pennsylvania. A sad reminder that in the Revolutionary era, northern, as well as southern, gentlemen, were slave-owners. Lot Amendments Condition: Some light chipping; very good. Item number: 223516
