BARING, Maurice (1874-1946). A collection of works by Baring, including: 1. Northcourt Nonsense. Triolets by M.B. [Abingdon: 1893]. Limited edition of 15 copies, this number 1. Provenance : Edmund Gosse (a 1p. ALS from Baring to Gosse, dated 'Sept. 93', bound in, half-title inscribed 'From M.B.'). [Bound with:] Maurice BARING. Triolets by M.B. Second series. [Abingdon: 1893]. 12°. Limited edition of 23 copies of the second corrected issue, this unnummbered. Provenance : Edmund Gosse (manuscript covering note and 2pp. of manuscript poetry, all by Baring, bound in, title inscribed 'from MB Oct. 1893'). 2 works in one volume, 12° (175 x 110mm). Later green cloth, titled in gilt on spine. Provenance : Oliver Brett (armorial bookplate). VERY RARE: Baring's first published work: 'In August [1893] I went to Mr. Tatham, who lived near Abingdon, to prepare for my examination [for Cambridge University]... We used to make up triolets at meals, and at all times of the day, and while I was in Abingdon I had two little books of them printed called Northcourt Nonsense ' (Baring The Puppet Show of Memory 1922, p.142). 2. The Puppet Show Of Memory . London: William Heinemann, 1922. 8° (220 x 140mm). Plates. Original cloth (slightly soiled), brown morocco-backed cloth slipcase. FIRST EDITION, blindstamped 'Presentation Copy' on title, signed by the author, with a loosely inserted TLS from the author, dated 27 July 1936. 3. In the End is My Beginning. London: William Heinemann, 1931. 8° (214 x 140mm). Frontispiece. Original cloth, dust-jacket (dust-jacket torn and soiled).
