The crudity and nakedly propagandistic bent of war mags drew the ire of Malcolm Kildale, a comic book writer and artist who wrote a letter to Dr. Wertham expressing support for his anti-comics campaign. According to Kildale, "I was in the Navy and watched comic books sink lower and lower in editorial taste.
