Richly gold-tooled and blind-st. morocco, covers with wide gilt ornamental border and large rectangular central blind-st. decoration, richly gilt spine with raised bands and morocco label, gilt inside border, marbled endpapers (sl. rubbed). Report of a research mission to Germany, 1842-by Jules de Saint-Genois (1813-1867), Ghent historian, university librarian and professor. The mission was made at the request of the Belgian archivist Louis-Prosper Gachard and focused on documents concerning the "États-Généraux" of the Southern Netherlands from Philip the Good until The diary offers an account of de Saint-Genois’ travels, meetings with colleagues, findings etc. in Cologne, Bonn, Koblenz, Mainz, Frankfurt, Heidelberg, Salzburg, Vienna, Prague and Hamburg.
