Original quarter morocco, green cloth covered boards with gilt-lettered label on upper cover (corners and edges worn). FIRST EDITION, second issue. One of the most dramatic and most beautifully illustrated books in the entire literature of surgery. Garrison-Morton 5588; Waller 857; Wellcome II, p. 136; Norman 174. -- BELL. Bell's artistic skills and his knowledge of physiology and anatomy were combined in this study of facial expression, which Charles Darwin wrote "laid the foundations of the subject as a branch of science".
