BENJAMIN BEN JONAH OF TUDELAH. Massa'ot shel Rabbi Binyamin [the travels od Rabbi Binyamin]. Leiden: [Bonaventura & Abraham] Elzevir, 1633. 204 leaves (final leaf blank), text in Hebrew, Hebrew pagination. 24mo, 100 x 54 mm. (3 7/8 x 2 1/8 in.), later calf, with a central coat-of-arms (Le Comte de Nedonchel) in gilt on both covers. Vinograd, Leiden 37; Steinschneider 4570,6; Fuks, Hebrew Typography 49. Second Leiden edition with only the Hebrew text in the famous pocket size which made the Elzevir books such favorites among students and scholars. Due to the success of the first Leiden edition of the itinerary, (the 1633, 8vo, Hebrew and Latin translation by Constantin L'Empereur printed in juxtapose), in the same year (1633) appeared also a separate Hebrew edition and a separate Latin edition both in the same pocket sizes of 24mo. In the collection of Bibliotheca Rosenthaliana in Amsterdam reposes a copy of the Hebrew and Latin 24mo editions bound together. (See: Fuks, Hebrew Typography 49.)
