Peachy, Richmond, 5 January 1864. 8vo, 1 page, with endorsement by Campbell on integral leaf . Benjamin writes a note to the Conderate Assistant Secretary of War requesting safe passage for a friend. "Dear Sir, the bearer John B. Peachy Esq was known by me as a Citzen of California in the summer of 1840, & is now desirous of returning to his home there. If you can facilitate him in any way in his desire to pass out of our lines, you will much oblige...P.S. Mr. Peachy is a brother of our mutual acquaintance Dr. Peachy C.S. Surgeon". With Campbell's endorsement to Brigadier General John Henry Winder, "Allow request to leave the C.S. through a Confederate post...".
