Both title-pages with broad woodcut borders incorporating the Royal arms, numerous small woodcut illustrations, including a few woodcut maps. (Some light browning, headline shaved to 'the booke of Common prayer' on b4, a few upper borders slightly shaved, some upper margins repaired in table at end affecting text slightly, mostly in head-lines.) Modern morocco gilt, edges gilt, by Riviere (minor rubbing to extremities). Provenance : Estelle Doheny (morocco bookplate; purchased from A.S.W. Rosenbach, 1 September 1942) -- donated to SMS September 1942. FIRST LARGE FOLIO EDITION OF THE GENEVA BIBLE. Known as the "Spring Bible," because of the first lines contained in the introductory verses: "Here is the spring where waters flowe, to quenche our heate of sinne: Here is the tree where trueth doth grow, to leade our lives therein." Includes the Prayer Book (often lacking) in the introductory matter which contains the word 'Minister' for 'Priest,' and some of the Offices are omitted. A small printed slip is tipped onto the imprint on the title-page repeating the imprint and containing the additional words: "Printer to the Queenes Maiestie" after Barker's name, and "Regiae Maiestatis" after "cum gratia & privilegio."
