Type: 7:65G, 27:110G. 15-line MILANESE ILLUMINATED INITIAL OPENING TEXT BY THE WORKSHOP OF FRANCESCO DA CASTELLO in magenta with flowers on a black ground, outlined in gold, with extensions and gold dots, 2- to 7-line initials alternating in red and blue. (Some spotting and staining, small wormhole in final 2 quires, headline occasionally shaved.) 17th-century flexible vellum, sprinkled edges (detached at upper joint, spine cracked and chipped). Provenance : early marginal annotations (shaved) -- Tortona, monastery of Augustinian hermits (inscription dated 1764 on first page). The handsome initial opening the text is from the workshop of Francesco da Castello a Milanese artist who also worked on manuscripts for King Matthias Cornvinus in Budapest.
