BINDING -- BIBLE, Latin. Paris: Guillard and Desboys, 1552. 2 volumes, 2° (261 x 188mm). Ruled in red throughout, ornamental initials, woodcut illustrations, series of blank leaves inserted in vol. 1 and 2, two leaves from an earlier Bible bound in at end of vol. 2, one of the leaves remargined to size (lacking *ii and the index of Hebrew names [A-H 8 ], some light browning and a few stains). 18th-century red morocco gilt by Le Gascon with arms and initials of Antoine de Sève [Olivier 683, fer 2 and 3] on sides, raised bands, spine divided in 6 compartments, one lettered, the others decorated in gilt, gilt edges (extremities lightly rubbed). Provenance : Antoine de Sève ( binding) - Guil Aug Jaubert Episc. St Flori (bookplate on vol. 1) - early marginalia - 19th-century inscription on endpaper.
