With a printed ticket bound in at the front: "This book is bound in Scotch deerskin, which has been specially tanned and dyed for Messrs. Sangorski and Sutcliffe (...). Deerskin in good-looking and durable leather which has rarely been used for bookbinding purposes since the Middle Ages. It has been prepared free from injurious acids and the natural grain preserved.
