Beschreibung:

Esther Solymosi oder Der jüdisch-rituelle Jungfrauenmord in Tißla-Eßlar [Esther Solymosi or the Jewish ritual murder of the young woman in Tisza-Eszlar], by Georg von Marczianni, M. Schulze publishing, Berlin, [ca. 1882]. German (translated from Hungarian). A booklet of anti-Semitic nature concerning the "Tisza-Eszlar Affair". Was probably published during the affair. An illustration of the Tisza-Eszlar synagogue appears on the first page. In April 1882, Esther Solymosi, a Christian peasant girl, servant in the home of a Jewish family in Tisza-Eszlar, was sent on an errand from which she did not return. The search for her being fruitless, a rumor was circulated that the girl had become a victim of ritual murder and her blood used for baking Matzot for Passover. Many Jews were arrested, false evidences were obtained and a long legal procedure full of incitement started destined to prove the Jews' guilt. Only one year later the trial ended with absolute acquittal of all people involved.52 pp, 19.5 cm.Fair-good condition. Tears to cover and to borders of some leaves. Staining. Several detached leaves. From the collection of Arnie Druck.
