BOOK OBJECT.] Imitation of an open book. Germany, ca. 1800. 140 x 160 mm. Wood or plaster. Provenance : purchased from Emil Offenbacher, 2 January 1962. A curious imitation of a prayer book. The book bound in a plain black binding, with red edges is opened in the middle and shows a quotation from the fiftieth psalm in Germna in large Gothig type. It possibly formed part of a devotional statue.
