No. 434 of the series with Brady, Washington imprint. A masterful outdoor view taken "near Fair Oaks" in 1862 showing a group of fifteen horse artillery officers, including James M. Roberton and John C. Tidball who commanded the two brigades of Horse Artillery at Gettysburg, arranged in three rows. Six of the men later became Generals in the Army of the Potomac. This is a variant view with identifications taken from Miller's. Back row standing: Edm. Pendleton, A.C.M. Pennington (Custer's Artillery Chief and future General), Henry Benson, H.M. Gibson, J.M. Wilson, and J.C. Tidball. Middle row sitting: W.N. Dennison, P.C. Haines, H.C. Gibson, William Hays (future General), James M. Robertson commanding 1st Brigade Horse Artillery at Gettysburg (and brevetted for same), and Francis C. Barlow (future General). Seated on ground: R.H. Chapin, Robert Clarke and A.C. Vincent.
