First edition of Richard Gough's translation of Camden's Britannia, one of the greatest of all works on history, topography, and geography of the island kingdom, notable for the many fine hand-colored maps engraved by John Cary, the numerous engraved plates of antiquities, and the informative text. This copy without covers, but the contents have been firmly restitched and quite usable, a good candidate for rebinding. Lot Amendments Condition: Some offsetting to the maps, occasional foxing/darkening to test, some marginal dampstaining to the latter pages of Vol. I, else very good. Item number: 184338
