Wild Life in South Africa
A book of information and anecdote for sportsmen and naturalists about bird and beast in South Africa
Published: George G Harrap & Company, London, Bombay and Sydney, 1936
This copy is in the (rare) dust jacket, which is complete but chipped, and now preserved in a Brodart sleeve. The front flap [unclipped: 15/-] notes: "The scope of this book is wide. It includes birds as well as animals, ranging from cuckoos, jacanas, honey guides, and pigeons to giraffes [illustrated on the frontispiece], mountain zebras, lions, leopards, and the various kinds of antelope. Interesting chapters describe South African salt-pans and the sea-birds of the Cape of Good Hope, while Charles John Andersson, comrade of Sir Francis Galton on their expedition to Lake Ngami in the eighteen-fifties, is rescued from oblivion in the chapter entitled 'A forgotten South African Hunter'." CONDITION. This is a very good, complete and unmarked copy of one of Bryden's less famous (but no less interesting) books.
