A marque made famous by the successes of its racing two-strokes in the 1920s, Garelli resumed post-war production with the Mosquito clip-on power unit and before long was producing proper motorcycles once again. In the 1970s a number of ‘Sixteener Specials’ were offered to cater for the teenage motorcyclist in the UK, one of the most popular of these being the Rekord. For those of a less excitable disposition, there was a range of more sedate models, including the small-wheeled Katia. A single-speed moped, the Katia first appeared on the UK market at the beginning of 1973 and was joined in July 1977 by the kick-starter equipped K/S version.
