BSA Co. Enfield No.1 MK III commercial SMLE bolt action rifle. Started life as a normal BSA No.1 MK III military rifle, but was later converted by Parker Hale for commercial/match use. Right side of the stock is marked "B.S.A./1940 (40 looks to have been re-stamped) /SHT LE/III". "PARKER-HALE/BIRMINGHAM" marked chamber. BSA logo on the bolt handle. Sling swivel in front of the magazine is Parker Hale marked. Muzzle of the bore is marked "A.G.F./BALL-BURNING AED" No import mark found. Matching serials on the bolt and receiver. Other parts are not numbered. Blade front sight with Parker Hale match adjustable peep rear. Blued finish lightly applied over the original when the rifle was rebuilt. Magazine cut off is still present. Oil finish wood stock having been refinished when the rifle was rebuilt. Stock disc was filled in. Fore stock areas has arsenal repairs where the original rear sight was. Includes tan cotton sling and Parker-Hale marked metal front sight protector. CONDITION: Metal retains 80% of its arsenal reapplied finish with some light wear and handling marks. Wood has a few scrapes and scratches. Bore is frosted, but retains strong rifling. Mechanically fine. Sight is excellent, and seems to turn correctly in both directions. Sling and metal front sight cover are excellent.
