Ca. 1955. A Nice gun with 26 inch chopper lump barrels with smooth and narrow concave game rib, round steel mid and front bead sights. Rib reads "WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO. LONDON." Barrel flats are stamped Nitro proof, 2 - 3/4 inch chambers and for 1 ounce shot. Tubes are stamped with the serial number and "JB". Barrels are nicely choked Full and Improved Cylinder. Attractive, finely marbled and smoky figured European walnut with English straight grip, semi-smooth point checkering, gold oval for initials and checkered butt. A matching beaver tail forend with Anson style push button release has the guns serial number stamped on the interior forend iron. Along the right side of the single mechanical trigger is the barrel selector slide which indicates in gold right or left barrel. An appropriately small blacked trigger guard is scroll engraved and extends itself to the 3/4 length bottom strap. The handsome case colored, scalloped, floral scroll engraved action is set with top lever and auto safe "SAFE" in gold. The gun is fitted in a nicely appointed canvas and leather "VC" (very compact) case with nickel snap caps, oil bottle, two piece cleaning rod and cleaning tools in a leather pouch. CONDITION: Good, Original. Barrels retain over 90% of what appears to be original blue with some light marks and light scratches. Action retains a considerable amount, perhaps 60% original case color. Stock and forend with handling and usage marks. Action is mechanically sound, barrels on face, with strong ejectors and good trigger. Barrel selector slide on the right side of trigger is operationally sound. Nice Game Gun!
