Lot consists of (A) British No.5 MK1 Lee Enfield "Jungle Carbine" bolt action rifle. Made 1945 at BSA, as marked on the left side of the stock socket. The left side of the receiver is marked "NO.5 MK1". Tonnage markings on the top of the barrel. "BNP" proof on the top of the chamber. "0" marked bolt head. "L" marked on the comb of the stock. "ENGLAND" import mark on the left side of the stock socket. Matching serials on the bolt and socket. Magazine is numbered, but does not match. Round, steel barrel with iconic flash hider and correct scallops on the chamber. Blade front sight with flip up rear adjustable to 800 meters. Metal components have been re-blued at some point. Bolt was chromed. Oil finished wood stock set with original rubber butt pad. CONDITON: Metal retains 85% of its reapplied finish with some light wear. Wood has handling marks, dings and scratches. Butt pad is correctly dried out and hard. Bore is clean with sharp rifling. Mechanically fine. (B) Japanese Kokura Arsenal Type 99 bolt action rifle with bayonet. Made early 1940s as a series 20 gun. Sharp Chrysanthemum on the chamber. Rifle retains its original mono pod and cleaning rod! No import mark found. Matching serials on the receiver, bolt body and safety. Extractor is mismatched. Firing pin and front band are not numbered. Standard barrel with blade front sight and rear tangent with anti aircraft wings. Original military blued finish on the metal components with a few areas of touched up cold blue. Two piece wood stock with a light lacquer finish. Includes a Kokura Arsenal contracted bayonet with no scabbard. Hooked quillon with wood grips. Bayonet retains its original finish on the metal components, while the grips have a light oil finish. CONDITION: Metal retains 90% of its finishes with some wear and handling marks. Wood has numerous dings, scratches and gouges, but no visible cracks. Chrome lined bore is clean overall with good rifling. Mechanically fine. Bayonet is forming a brownish patina in most areas. Grips have finish wear and some scratches. Blade has not been sharpened.
