Lot consists of two Lee-Enfield No. I MK III* rifles and a No. 5 MK I bolt action carbine. (A) Regimentally marked No. I MK III manufactured in 1917 by Lithgow. The buttstock is marked with "6/17 (Early Lithgow kangaroo and "AC" within shield), HV (Indicating that the rifle was sighted for high velocity ammunition), and CMF over 3MD (Indicating issue to the Civilian Military Forces of the 3rd Military District, Southern Command, Victoria). Matching numbers include the receiver, bolt, and nosecap. CONDITION: Metal components retain most of their arsenal finish with scratches and areas of wear all around. Bore is dark, but retains strong rifling throughout. Stock is good, retaining all markings and showing scattered nicks and marks from handling and storage. (B) No. I MK III manufactured in 1942 by Rifle Factory Ishapore. Numbers have been force matched at the time of arsenal refurbishment and include the receiver, bolt, rear sight, and nosecap. Barrel has been converted to smoothbore to fire .410 shotgun ammunition. Stock has been sanded and refinished. CONDITION: Metal components retain most of their arsenal reapplied finish, showing areas of wear and thinning all around. Smoothbore is bright and clean. Stock retains the vast majority of it's reapplied varnish and shows some minor indenations from handling all around, along with some minor repairs behind the rear sight. (C) No. 5 MK I manufactured in 1945 by Fazakerley. Matching numbers include the receiver and bolt. Buttstock was at one point sanded on the right side and is marked "26.10.48/ 1.H.L./132/B.S.Q.N." Upper handguard retains scarce traces of red paint. CONDITIONL Metal components retain a good amount of their applied finish, showing wear and thinning all around. Good bore with strong rifling throughout. Stock is fair, showing losses and scattered indentations all around.
