Beschreibung:

Manufactured by DWM under contract for Portugal between 1908-1910, only 5,000 of these "M2" Model 1906 Lugers were produced for the Royal Portuguese Army during the brief reign of King Manuel II. After the Portuguese Revolution of 1910, Portugal's military would go on to adopt and purchase more Lugers from Germany, albeit with chamber markings not resembling the former monarchy. This examples serial number of "2805" places it in the middle of Portugal's contract. Markings include the DWM monogram on the toggle, "M2" stamp over the chamber, and Portuguese military acceptance stamps on the left of the receiver, rear of the frame, and bottom of the magazine. Extractor is marked "CARREGADA". Matching numbers include the frame, trigger, trigger sideplate, locking bolt, barrel, receiver, trigger bar, forward and rear toggles, and grip safety. Checkered walnut grips are unnumbered, but bear a "C" on the interior of the right grip panel. Magazine is also unnumbered and bears the Portuguese military acceptance stamp on the wood base. M2 Luger is complete with leather Portuguese holster, stamped on the interior "DGMG", cleaning rod, and loading tool. CONDITION: Metal components retain large and pleasing amounts of arsenal applied rust blue finish, showing areas of thinning on the frame and grip straps, with pleasing areas of patina showing through the bluing. Barrel appears to have been lightly touched up. Strawed and fire blued components show thinning and wear all around. Bright mirror bore with exceptionally well defined lands and grooves. Checkered walnut grips are excellent, showing minimal wear and smoothing. Leather Portuguese holster is in excellent condition, showing minor age cracking and minimal wear from use. Overall a fine example of a Model 1906 M2 Luger that was manufactured under contract by DWM during the reign of Portugal's last monarch. MW Name Value Accessories Holster, cleaning rod, loading tool Barrel Length 4 - 3/4" Caliber/Bore .30 Luger FFL Status Curio & Relic Manufacturer DWM Model Model 1906 "M2" Paperwork Serial Number 2805
