Beschreibung:

Lot of 2, featuring cabinet card showing four shooters, Captain A.H. Bogardus (1834-1913) and his sons. Photographer's imprint of Eisenmann, New York. Bogardus was one of Buffalo Bill's first trap shooters in the early Wild West shows. It was when Bogardus left in 1855 that Cody, still somewhat skeptical, let Annie Oakley try out for the sharpshooter's position. Most, and especially Bogardus, wear shooting medals; the two older sons with ammunition on their shirts and their belts - keeping it handy! Dated 1889 on verso. Minor surface soil. Eisenmann's imprint a bit off. Accompanied by the following title: Bogardus, A.H. Field, Cover, and Trap Shooting. New York: Forest & Stream Publishing Co., 1891. Fourth Edition. 12mo, cloth covered boards with gilt portrait of Bogardus on cover and gilt title on spine, 444pp. Some splitting of pages near spine, with few pages partially separated near front and back. Previous owner's stamps on inside cover. Some shelf wear to binding.
