London: William and John Innys, 1722. 2° (345 x 228 mm). 18th-century half calf (repairs to spine). Provenance : Earls of Macclesfield (bookplate; sold Sotheby’s London, 13 March, 2008, lot 3931). FIRST EDITION. Compiled by William Stanley, this is the second of four catalogues of the manuscripts left to Corpus Christi by Matthew Parker (1504-1575), Archbishop of Canterbury. The first was a list of the manuscripts compiled in 1600 by Thomas James; in 1777 James Nasmith produced a third catalogue, which was published by the college and contained a portrait of Parker; and in 1912 appeared a fourth, compiled by M.R. James.
