FINE SERIES OF OVER THIRTY AUTOGRAPH LETTERS SIGNED ("CAROLINA" OR MARIA CAROLINA"), TO NICOLETTA, PRINCESS OF PALAGONIA IN PALERMO, WITH SOME BY HER HUSBAND ETTORE, DUC DE BERRY ("ETTORE LUCCHESI PALLI") written in Italian, including twenty-seven letters by Carolina, discussing the war of liberation in 1859, despairing of the ingratitude of their people, lamenting the unrest in Sicily (..."la volontà di Dio sia fatta che li punisce..."), the "madness" in France (in 1851), and other relatives being chased from their various seats, commiserating over the death of Nicoletta's father, and her own brother the King, exchanging family news, and assuring her that she is her best friend; together with six letters by Ettore Carlo Lucchesi Palli, Duc de Berry and one by Maria Isabella (1833) 34 letters in all, 8vo, some stationery with attractive lithographed decorative borders, some with the crowned MC monogram, Naples, Brunsee, Parma, Venice, Graz and elsewhere, mainly 13 March 1839-15 September 1859, seal tear to one letter, some creasing
