.30 caliber, 2.25" octagon to round barrel, s/n 190 & 195. Blued finish, scroll engraved frames, ivory grips. Both bar hammers marked ALLEN'S PATENT. The pistols are contained in a period wood case that is typical of Allen casings with brown velvet lining and pillow in the lid, with accessory compartments. Included are a dual-cavity round ball mold and barrel wrench combination, and a correct pattern brass plunger style Allen powder flask with red Moroccan leather wrapping. Also included with the set is a wonderful period written, note in heavily oxidized iron ink, on a piece of faded blue paper that reads as follows: Presented to Mr. Stewart by his friend Christopher Peven as a remembrance for his friendship – for the short space of time that we passed between us, and wish that be ever part of him. Additional research into Mr. Peven and Mr. Stewart and the circumstances of this gift might prove fruitful. Condition: Good to very good. Both pistols devoid of finish and have been cleaned to bright. The metal shows some scattered surface oxidation and discoloration. Grips good. Both pistols are mechanically functional with rusty bores. Casing is good to very good as are accessories.
