Casey Stengel's 1954 H&B All-Star Game Bat Held at Cleveland's Municipal Stadium, the 1954 All-Star Game featured some of the most exciting and evenly paced baseball to date as both divisions went at each other in a nine-inning fight to the finish. Casey Stengel managed an American League squad eager to put an end to the National League's four game All-Star winning streak. This game rewrote the books as it tied or set records for home runs by both teams (six), homers by one team (four, American League), runs by both teams (twenty), hits by both teams (thirty-one) and hits by one team (seventeen, American League). The AL team eventually outslugged their NL adversaries in an 11-9 victory. This bat was produced for Casey by H&B specifically for the 1954 mid-summer classic. Stamped "R26" on the knob, its custom markings on the barrel include Casey's large facsimile signature and "All-Star Game Cleveland 1954" in block letters. Though minimal, it does show some evidence of use including rack wear and spike marks on the knob. Based on H&B customs, it is likely that this bat is either unique or one of two examples in existence. LOA from the Stengel family.
