Casey Stengel's Own 1951 World Champion New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball Many great players prospered under the tutelage of Casey Stengel, but none more so than Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle. Stengel managed each through two different eras of Yankee greatness, but had the privilege of both men's service for one year alone. At the end of the 1951 season, Joe DiMaggio turned his back on the highest salary in sports and left the game on his own terms. His legend firmly established, DiMaggio passed the torch to a promising young centerfielder named Mickey Mantle who made his debut in pinstripes that same year. Their time together with the Yankees was brief but successful, culminating a World Series victory over the Giants. Casey's own OAL (Harridge) baseball is signed by 27 members of the 1951 World Champion team. Players include: Bauer, Berra (MVP), Brideweser, Brown, Coleman, Collins, DiMaggio (clubhouse), Hogue, Hopp, Houk, Kuzava, Lopat, Mantle, Martin, McDougald (ROY), Morgan, Ostrowski, Overmire, Raschi, Reynolds, Rizzuto, Sain, Schallock, Shea, Silvera, Stengel and Woodling. This ball is very clean with very light coating of shellac. Signatures rate 8/10. On the east panel is the added notation "World Champion" in Stengel's hand and "1951." LOAs from PSA/DNA, JSA and the Stengel family.
