The small trefoil stamp on the binding is associated with the Mendoza Binder (A. Hobson, Renaissance Book Collecting, figs 44, 52 & 58).
8vo (162 x 96 mm). Italic type, 30 lines plus headline. collation: A-D8 E10 [Catullus]; AA-DD8 EE4 [Tibullus]; a-i8 [Propertius]: 150 leaves. Woodcut Aldine device on title-page and final verso (otherwise blank). (Occasional light staining, small wormhole in gutter at start of volume.)
binding: Contemporary blind-tooled Italian morocco (168 x 103 mm), central knotwork tool within a blind-ruled panel with small trefoil stamps around edges, lower cover with initials CB (or CTB), spine with blind ruling and later paper manuscript label, gauffered edges, stubs from two pairs of fore-edge ties. (Binding worn, corners rubbed, spine chipped, edges rubbed, upper hinge broken.)
provenance: Lancellotto Conradi, early inscription on title-page, scored through [cf.
