CHARLES DICKENS (1812-1870); WILLIAM WORDSWORTH (1770-1850); WILKIE COLLINS (1824-1889); CHARLES KINGSLEY (1819-1875) Two albums containing approximately 140 autograph letters, signed, and 40 clipped signatures, the majority to the photographers John and Charles Watkins, 79 surmounted by the appropriate carte de visite photograph, the majority by the Watkins, the majority from literary and artistic figures of the nineteenth century including an envelope front signed by Charles Dickens addressed to William Longman, with the carte de visite photograph; a two-page (incomplete) autograph letter in the hand of William Wordsworth from Rydal, Ambleside, 18th April 1849, recipient unknown, cancelling an appointment as: "I received a ? from the Lord Chamberlain inviting me to attend the Queen's Ball on the 29th. I regret much that I am not at liberty to decline this invitation -- I have not been presented to Her Majesty since I had the honour of being made Poet Laureate," (remounted and soiled), with photograph; A two page autograph letter signed by Wilkie Collins, from 12 Harley Street, W., 28th January 1862, arranging an appointment to be photographed, together with the carte de visite photograph; a three- page autograph letter signed by Charles Kingsley, from Eversley Rectory, Winchfield, December 27th 1867, thanking Mr. Watkins for the photographs: "the larger head done originally for the Church of England Portrait Gallery," together with a carte de visite photograph; others include those by John Bright, J.H. Foley, George Macdonald and Henry Weekes (2)
