Charles Fasoldt Single-arm Gravity Escapement Regulator, made for Henry J. Martin Albany, New York, 1873, carved walnut crest surmounting the gilt iron and glazed case, molded and carved stepped base with exposed door latch, flame mahogany veneered rear case panel, 7 1/2-in. dia. reverse-painted dial reading "C. Fasoldt. Albany, N.Y. Pat. Apr. 8, 1873," with turned brass bezel, blued-steel hands, dial bracket engraved "Pat. Feb, 7. 1859./C. Fasoldt. Albany/Made for Henry J. Martin " eight-day, single-arm gravity escapement, Geneva stop with roller detent, minute, intermediate wheels, and top dial bracket stamped "5,"and numerous other parts stamped "5," upright gravity arm stamped "PS Stubs Castste," with the PS reading sideways, 12 lb. mercury-filled weight, ht. 54 in. Note: Square-head set screws and the wheel crossings are recessed in the Fasoldt style. The weight was originally made for the Smith College regulator but the requirement for that regulator was a 15 lb. weight so the 12 lb. assembly was put on this clock. MERCURY NOTE
