Charmes-Chambertin--Vintage 1990 Côte de Nuits, Serafin "In previous vintages, I have often preferred Serafin's Les Cazetiers to his Charmes Chambertin. Not in 1990! The Charmes Chambertin is more open than the Les Cazetiers, with a roasted, cassis, almost prune-like character to the nose. This aspect of sur-maturite is also noticeable in the mouth, with the splendidly opulent, rich, gamey black-raspberry flavors. This rich, voluptuously textured, sweet, expansive wine makes a considerable impact on the palate, but the tannins are less noticeable than in Les Cazetiers.
