Charteris (Leslie) An interesting archive of material related to The Saint and other Charteris projects, including 2 typescripts of an audition script titled "The Adventures of Houdini" by Charteris, a typescript of an unpublished autobiographical essay "And Then Came Nana" by Charteris, a typescript of the radio adaptation of The Simon Templar Foundation with manuscript notes and corrections in pencil, numerous extracted articles or copies of articles by Charteris, ink stamps bearing Charteris' facsimile signature and The Saint logo, a hood ornament and metal badge as well as stationary all featuring The Saint logo, printed apology slips from Charteris, some creasing or folds, some rust staining, v.s. c.1930-70. ⁂ A fascinating archive filled with interesting Saint ephemera. The Houdini script featured here is particularly interesting - Houdini is listed as being played by Chester Morris who, along with Houdini's wife Bess Houdini, was in 1936 attempting to make a film of Houdini's life with Paramount. Charteris started work with Paramount as a writer in the 1932 so this is likely an early script he produced whilst the film was in its early stages (ultimately the film languished in production and was never made).
