A DRAMATIC RECORD OF CHURCHILL AS WARTIME LEADER, showing him meeting with the hardy survivors of bombed out Coventry, meeting with soldiers in training, as well as famous emissaries from Allied governments such as Roosevelt, De Gaulle and Wladislaw Sikorski. A particularly striking set of images show Churchill arriving with Harry Hopkins by speedboat for dinner at Greenwich with the American ambassador John G. Winant, and top British and American naval personnel. In another sequence the white cliffs of Dover rise in the background as Churchill, Halifax, and Harry Hopkins set sail on wintry seas, bound for America. Several of the training photos bear a "censored" stamp to prevent the enemy from gaining any intelligence about projected Allied operations. A rich and dramatic historical resource. (3)
