Churchill (Winston Spencer) Three pages featuring handwritten pencil scores of Bezique matches played by Winston Churchill and John ('Jock') Rupert Colville in August 1954, with red ink additions and annotations by Churchill himself, mid-horizontal folding mark, light yellowing and occasional foxing, 8vo; with a note from Churchill on a trip to Sicily, reading "Would Syracuse suit you and Betty as well as Taormina? It looks to have much better food according to Biddy Monckton (after prolonged rumination on the spot)2, with a comment in another's hand "They both sound delightful. I went there (both) 40 years ago and remember Taormina a dream of beauty. I haven't such a vivid recollection of Syracuse. But food is very important" and Churchill's further comment "Better Hotels, more 'artistico' for the girls to see. Or both", two pages, Prime Minister headed paper, tall 8vo, [1955] (4) ***Sir John Rupert Colville (28 January 1915 – 19 November 1987) was a British civil servant. He was Assistant Private Secretary to three Prime Ministers: Neville Chamberlain 1939-1940; Winston Churchill 1940–41 and 1943–45 (and Joint Principal Private Secretary, 1951–55) and Clement Attlee, 1945
