Civil War Officer's Haversack Identified to Colonel Edward Anderson 37th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, and 12th Indiana Cavalry, c. 1861-65, black leather shoulder strap with a red morocco underside, and a scalloped brass buckle, leather flap has stamped foliate designs and stitched decorative lines, painted cloth under the flap, internal painted cloth pouch flap marked "E. ANDERSON," with thin leather closure straps. Provenance: Purchased from Norm Flayderman; the collection of Ron Tunison. Note: Colonel Edward Anderson was an ordained minister who enlisted as a chaplain. He later took command of the 12th Indiana Cavalry and purportedly, General Nathan Bedford Forrest had a $500.00 bounty for his capture or death.
