Small leather album with flap and tab, "Album" in gilt on spine. With 12 pages for cdvs, each with typical room for 2 cards. The album has 16 cdvs and 7 tintypes, one gem-sized, one ninth plate-sized in an oval mat, the rest are cdv-sized (approx.). Many are marked. Album includes several members of the Baxter family; one page is labeled Sam Baxter, 34th Reg. OVI, but the page is frayed and the card has fallen out. There are two loose cards, one is likely Sam Baxter. Sam is listed as KIA at Opequan, VA on 9.19.64, as is Hiram Baxter (also of the 34th). The last card is labeled R.E. Wilson 1st. N.C. Sharp Shooters. There is very little information on Ruel E. Wilson other than that he also served in the 1st NC Infantry. This album indicates he achieved the rank of Captain. Another page is labeled "Eli Cline." We find a soldier by that name in McLaughlin's Cavalry (OH), and later the 5th OH Cav. There is also a page marked "Sol Cline." Solomon Cline is also listed in McLaughlin's Cavalry. He was discharged for disability in July 1862. Condition: This got wet at some point. Many of the pages have layers separating. The images are fine, however, and show no evidence of water damage. Pages separating from the spine leather. Scattered foxing.
