Beschreibung:

another Western Costume Company veteran with correct coarse butternut-colored cotton body and white muslin sleeve lining intact, and Cincinnati Depot H. SHAFFER/US INSP/(CIN)TI stamping in left sleeve. Fine blue wool body exhibits pronounced herringbone bone weave with complete run of restored red worsted tape and pillows. All eagle buttons present although weakly stamped, with one mismatched infantry I replacement and another later Pennsylvania state seal added. Provenance: Property of the former First National Bank of Fremont, Indiana Condition: Body is nearly perfect except for one 0.25” round moth nip on right breast opposite top button hole with several modern stitching repairs along back seam. Body lining is pristine, as good as you will ever find, with moderate soiling in armpits and partially re-stitched sleeve lining. Bright red worsted trim has faded slightly, now a dull red color. Overall, a VG+ example of late war Cincinnati Depot production.
