Here, things are going along as usual. I am just back from Washington. Jones seems quite well satisfied, & evidently expects to make our scheme go. He will leave for California pretty soon, now, & will be ready to boom(?) the machine as soon as his canvass is off his hands. Susy entered this college as a freshman three or four years ago. It is by long odds the best female college in the world..." Olivia Susan Clemens ("Susy"), the eldest of Twain's three daughters, died of meningitis in 1896 at 24 years of age.
