CLIFTON COLLEGE - Photographic Album of 41 mounted images (mostly 11 x 8 ins. approx.), gilt morocco & marbled e/ps., covered with fabric chemise embroidered 'Photographs / 1901-1909' & central monogram 'GH'. * a most interesting & evocative record (unfortunately not captioned); the groups show both sporting - cricket, football, hockey, fencing, etc., and others - house & form; also interior & exterior views - including the formal ceremony occasioned by the unveiling of the prominent South African War Memorial. Some also of Queen's College, Cambridge from where, presumably, the old Cliftonian graduated. The final image shows a group of (? Royal Artillery) officers, probably taken circa 1916; giving the added poignancy of the Western Front -from where a certain number in these photographs were not to return.
