COL An interesting collection of letters of American and British authors. Lot comprises: a 1923 typed letter signed by Rudyard Kipling and addressed to "H.C. Robbins Esq. The Press Association Ltd". Lower right corner torn, with foxing and stains along the chipped border. Signature remains clear and crisp. A letter on headed "Cavendish Hotel" headed paper from Aldous Huxley, replying to an unknown correspondent: "The lecture in question [the Huxley Memorial Lecture] is being published tomorrow by Macmillan, from whom, no doubt, you can procure an advance copy". Mailing folds and a few stains. A 1932 typed letter signed in ink by John Buchan, who writes: "I am afraid there is not the remotest chance of my being able to go to Nova Scotia this year or to write anything about it. I am tied to England and have far more work than I can do". Mailing folds and traces of rusty paperclip. A 1960 typed letter addressed to Honor Tracy and signed in ink by Ogden Nash, who praises Tracy's sister for being "charming, witty, amusing and altogether delightful, adjectives I am sure have been applied to her many times before". Mailing folds with some splitting and a few stains. A note in black ink from Angus Wilson on personalised stationery. Traces of rusty paperclip. A fascinating lot. Viewing recommended.
